The color of an IC is determined by the material used to make the substrate, or the base material, on which the circuit is built. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common substrate material is silicon, which is typically black or dark in color. This is because the silicon substrate is typically treated with a process called &#8220;doping,&#8221; which adds impurities to the substrate to create the semiconducting properties needed for the circuit to function.
